Oceanographer
Michelle has been training and working as an oceanographer for 3 years, exploring and researching the depths of the ocean at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. She has been a part of several oceanographic expeditions, including one where she had the unique opportunity to descend into the ocean's depths aboard a submarine, exploring methane seeps off Southern California.

Volunteer
Michelle has dedicated her time to the Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative (DOSI), serving as a volunteer co-lead and co-producer for an upcoming deep-sea podcast. Additionally, she has collaborated with scientists and stakeholders to develop both online and in-person webinars aimed at effectively communicating scientific concepts to diverse audiences. Michelle's involvement also extends to collaborating with others in the crafting policy briefs tailored for policymakers.

Michelle actively volunteers at Salty Cinema, where she contributes to organizing documentary screenings accompanied by insightful panel discussions, fostering public engagement with science and ocean conservation.
2019 - 2020
Project Manager
Michelle led the planning, production and execution of live meditation events streamed online for an NGO. She assumed multiple roles, including director, assistant director and production coordinator for diverse events. This included providing mentorship to short-term volunteers, guiding them in directorial, assistant directorial, and production assistant capacities. Throughout these experiences, she developed skills in problem-solving, creative thinking, teamwork, leadership, mentoring, time management, and more.
